How do I use Test Center?
FEATURES AVAILABLE TO ALL USERS:
- Welcome -
This first window is mainly intended to show you some
quick stats, such as your running average, your class name
(if applicable), number of tests completed, etc. In this
window are also links to "Log Out", and
"Edit Profile".
It is recommended that you Log Out when you are finished
with Test Center.
"Edit Profile" allows you to change your username,
password, e-mail address, first name, and last name. You
can also join or leave a class (if you are a student). You
must have been given the class password to join a class.
If you already joined a class, you cannot join another
unless you leave the class you are in.
Make your changes by filling in the blanks with the
information your want, and click on "Update
Profile" button to save your changes.
- Notes and Announcements -
This window displays announcements made by your instructor
and is also a place where you can write quick notes or
reminders to yourself.
To add or edit your notes, click
on the "Edit My Notes" link, type your notes
in the box provided, and click on the
"Update My Notes" button.
- Tests -
In this window are all the tests that you can do. To
start any test, simply click on the test name, and the
test should load into a separate window. There is no limit
to the number of times you can do a test, the score
from each of your attempts is saved.
Click on "Modify/Create My Tests" to create
new tests, or rename existing tests of yours.
To rename an existing test, click on the test name in the
table, change the name in the "Test Name" blank,
and click on the "Update Test" button.
To create a new test, click on "Random..."
or "Custom...". A random test will select
questions over a broad range of topics, whereas a
custom test will let you choose the percentage of questions
that should come from each topic.
In both types of tests, you choose a Test Name (what you
want your test to be known as), and the number of questions
that should appear in your test (max 60). If you want the
test to start immediately, check the "Start
Test Immediately" box, otherwise the test will be
created and you will go back to the main page.
For a custom test, you must also specify the percentage of
questions to come from each section. The percentages must
add up to 100%. If you want to ensure that certain sections
are equally weighted, select Equal% in those
sections. If you have any sections set to Equal%,
Test Center will automatically determine what percentage
of questions should come from that/those section(s).
Leaving all sections set to Equal% is essentially
the same as creating a test using the random form.
- Test History -
This window simply shows you the scores of all tests
you have started, completed, or abandoned. If you
have started at least one test, you can download a more
detailed test scores page.
Printer-Friendly Format - displays a more
detailed test scores page in an easy to print format.
Access/Excel Format - displays a more
detailed test scores page in a format that can be imported
into Access or Excel. Click on the link, and save the page
as an HTML file. You can then import the HTML file into
Access or Excel.
- Deadlines -
This window lists deadlines, either set by you, or set by
your instructor. You can add, edit, or delete deadlines
by clicking on the "Edit My Deadlines" link.
Add a deadline by clicking on the "Add New
Deadline" link, filling in the date field
(in mm/dd/yyyy format) and typing a description of what
the deadline is. Deadline will be added to your profile
when you click on the "Post Deadline" button.
Edit an existing deadline by clicking on the
deadline date, changing the date and/or description
fields, and clicking on the "Update Deadline"
button.
Delete a deadline by clicking on the appropriate
"DEL" link, and choosing "OK" on
the pop-up window.
